Classes

Below are my current class offerings. If you don’t find what  you’re looking for, please contact me!

MBSR

MBSR is an acronym for ‘Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.’ It is the brain child of Jon Kabat-Zinn and has become the most well-researched mindfulness intervention since its inception in 1979. MBSR is an 8-week specific protocol to used to introduce the basic practices of mindfulness, using both the body in stillness and motion, as well as thoughts and emotions as objects of meditation. I teach this class online to people with cystic fibrosis and their loved ones or caretakers. Check back to see when the next offering will be.

Living Mindfully with Cystic Fibrosis

Living Mindfully with Cystic Fibrosis is a class I designed, using practices derived from MBSR, that is geared more specifically to living with cystic fibrosis. My hope is that this class is beneficial for people living with CF as well as parents and other caregivers of those with CF. We work with both the body and mind and learn to become mindful of sensations, thoughts and emotions as a way to live more skillfully with the changes inherent in living in a body with the specific challenges of CF. We also discuss additional issues of importance such as resilience, self-compassion and loving-kindness. This class is provided at no cost to those with CF or their loved ones through the generous support of CFRI (http://www.cfri.org).

Mindfulness Instruction

I am happy to work with you one-on-one to further your skills in honing your mindfulness practice. We can do this over the computer or phone, whatever is your preference. Let me know how I can help by submitting a comment below. I will respond as soon as I am able. If it doesn’t happen immediately, remember I have CF too. Sometimes things get a little crazy here at my end.

Wellness Coaching

I was certified to provide wellness coaching through Wellcoaches, Inc. It has been my passion to work with people (adults and children) who have CF to set up successful fitness regimens and help work skillfully with the obstacles presented by living with CF. Now I have also incorporated mindfulness into this coaching framework. We work by phone or computer with an initial goal-setting session followed by check-ins at regular intervals. Sometimes, it just helps to have someone on your side who knows exactly what you are going through, and who can be an accountability partner.
